Jalapeño Pepper
Baked jalapeños with Chihuahua cheese and bacon
A quick classic: baked jalapeños with Chihuahua cheese and crispy bacon.
Ingredients
- 6 jalapeño peppers
- 150 g Chihuahua cheese
- 100 g bacon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray or a few drops of oil, for the baking dish
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes with a small spoon (leave a bit of membrane in for extra heat).
- Cut the bacon into small pieces and cook briefly in a skillet until it releases some fat, without getting fully crisp; it will finish cooking in the oven.
- Cut or shred the Chihuahua cheese.
- Fill each jalapeño half with cheese and top with a bit of the cooked bacon; season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange the jalapeños in the baking dish and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbly.
- Let rest 2 to 3 minutes before serving, so the hot cheese doesn't burn your mouth.
